If there’s one way Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) knows how to deal with heartbreak, it’s through song. Seriously, name one other person who can belt a number through her tears like this woman can! On the other hand, it sounds like Brody (Dean Geyer) is pretty good at doling out the heartbreak in song. He dominates in this cover of Marina in the Diamonds’ “How to Be a Heartbreaker.” If by “dominate” you mean “makes us hate his guts.” Grr!

We always knew there was something a little sketchy about Brody, but we had to wait for someone a little more “Lima Heights” than us to come around and get to the bottom of things on Rachel’s behalf. Thankfully, new roomie Santana (Naya Rivera) immediately detected something sinister behind Brody’s “too good to be true” exterior.

And as much as it may hurt Rachel to know the truth about Brody, we think the best friends are those who are willing to do whatever it takes to protect each other — even if it means putting the friendship itself on the line.

And speaking of Santana, while we loved this Marina and the Diamonds cover, we have to say her take on Paula Abdul’s “Cold Hearted” was definitely the best of the NYC performances this week. We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again, but we would not want to have Santana on our bad side. But after the way she stuck her neck out for Rachel, we can definitely say we’d want her in our corner when the going gets tough.

What did you think of Brody and Rachel’s performance?
