Glee is no stranger to intense criticism from various and sundry parents' councils, but the show and its creators are most recently coming under fire from adoptive parents for its unrealistic portrayals of the adoption process. Specifically, it's a bit far-fetched that Quinn (Dianna Agron) thinks she can plot to snatch her baby back from Shelby (Idina Menzel) by framing her as an unfit mother, as she plans to do in Season 3's upcoming episodes. (Also, can we just take a moment to ask, WTF is going on with Puck and Shelby? Are they gonna do it? Because that's what it seems like in the promo for “Pot O’ Gold,” and that's weird and unnecessary.)

Back to our regularly scheduled story:

An adoptive mother posted a petition on Change.org (which already has 750 members' names on it) calling for a public service announcement from creator Ryan Murphy "that helps to separate fact from fiction about adoption, and points viewers to resources for finding out more about how adoption really works."

Fair enough, but isn’t the simple fact that it’s on television — as a TV series and not, say, a Dateline special — a good indication of its fictional status? Case in point: A real-life Sue
would totally be behind bars trading cigarettes for tracksuits by now.
