He may be taking a step back and letting co-stars Darren Criss (Blaine) and Kevin McHale (Artie) sing Justin Bieber’s summer hit “Boyfriend” in an upcoming episode, but it’s Chord Overstreet (Sam) who will always be Glee’s true Justin Bieber crooner in our minds.
He and his swooshy bangs made us all swoon back during the days of Glee’s tribute band, “The Justin Bieber Experience,” during in Season 2, and it turns out that Chord himself is a really big fan of the Biebs, too.
During In Touch Weekly’s Icons & Idols party on September 6, Chord revealed that Justin’s tunes are his favorite of everything he’s gotten to perform on Glee. Plus, did you know that Chord has a solo album in the works? (Somehow, we’re guessing Santana’s “Trouty Mouth” isn’t going to make the track list).
What’s your favorite thing to do on Season 4 of Glee this season?
Favorite thing to do this season — I’d have to say I shot a couple scenes with Darren Criss so far that have been really fun and entertaining and we did like a couple of montage sequences that are going to be really cool. My favorite thing is to work with Eric Stoltz because he’s an amazing director and I love him to death.
What was it like working with Kate Hudson?
I haven’t worked with her yet. I’ve met her once or twice in passing through the hair and makeup trailer but she’s shooting with the New York crew. She’s super sweet and I can’t wait to see her stuff turns out.
What’s the favorite song you’ve covered on Glee?
I love doing the Justin Bieber songs. It was a fun time. A lot of the group numbers we did last season were really fun.
What’s next for you? Do you have an album?
Right now I’m exhausted writing and in the studio every minute I get trying to perfect and critique a bunch of stuff. It’s all in the works.
Pauly D is DJ-ing tonight. Will you be fist-pumpin?
Yeah, I’m always fist pumping. He looks like he’s already going, so...
Do you have any funny Jane Lynch stories from the new season?
I haven’t actually done any scenes with her. I’ve done one scene with her. Not yet — they’re coming. They’re coming.
