We all know that Darren Criss (Blaine) is now an indispensable part of Glee, but how does he think he would have fared on The Glee Project? “I don’t know if I would have gotten through the audition process,” he says. Well, we doubt that would be the case, but he’s entitled to his own opinion!

Darren knows The Glee Project as well as anyone, as tomorrow’s episode marks his third appearance as a guest mentor after having appeared twice in Season 1. So which contender does he think would be the best fit for Glee? He tells The Hollywood Reporter that “they all have something to add and can be written into the show in a very cool way.” Sounds a tad noncommittal, but Darren is such a nice guy that of course he wouldn’t pick sides!

It’s never easy to earn a role on Glee, but Darren finds Glee Project to be a much different challenge than what he experienced when auditioning for the show. “I auditioned for a part that's nothing like me,” he says. “It's a character that I play and you mold yourself into that predetermined mold.” It’s interesting to hear Darren say that he’s nothing like Blaine, right? The two do have a few noticeable differences, including their vastly different wardrobe choices. However, we assume they’re both equally ambitious —and equally adorable!

On the other hand, Darren explains that the contestants will be “basically a shade of themselves” on Glee. He also thinks this is an exciting time for the Glee Project contestants, since there’s such a need for new blood in the New Directions, which wasn’t quite the case last season. Speaking of which: We miss you already, Damian McGinty!
