Way back in August, Glee executive producer Brad Falchuk dropped some surprising scoop. Not only would Rachel (Lea Michele) share a connection with Brody (Dean Geyer) at NYADA, but her ex, Finn (Cory Monteith) , was getting a new love interest, too!
Details were scant at the time. The writers still hadn’t decided on what the character would be like, much less who would play her. A few months later, Brad said the writers were still only “kicking around a few ideas.” Now, it sounds like Finn’s new lady might never actually make it to Glee, at all!
During a January 25 fan Q&A on Twitter, Glee creator Ryan Murphy wrote that Finn will “not have a new love interest.” He declined to provide more information than that, so we admit this still leaves plenty of questions unanswered.
Was the character really cut altogether? And if so, why? The silver lining: With one less complication out of the way, it’s possible that Finn and Rachel’s upcoming wedding-fueled hookup just might lead to an actual reconciliation, after all.
Q: Is Finn's new love interest someone we already know on the show?
Ryan: Finn does not have a new love interest. Wait, you just tricked me there didn't you?
Q: Rachel barely sings anymore. It’s disappointing.
Ryan: Then you will love next week. TWO Rachel songs!
Q: Can we see the NY gang go out to a bar & have fun??! Please have them get up & sing too!
Q: Will Glee ever cover the Backstreet Boys?
Q: Will Mercedes return to the New Directions?
Ryan: Yes, in a funny interesting way.
Q: Will Mr. Schue have his own song soon?
Ryan: Yes. Several.
Q: Episode 15 has music from movies. Which ones?
Ryan: Footloose, Ghost, Animal House...these are just some of the highlights.
Q: When and how can I buy a Men of McKinley calendar?
Ryan: We are working on this. Thanks for your interest and passion!
