Marley (Melissa Benoist) may be one of the new kids on Glee, but she seems to be getting along with her new co-stars just fine. Chord Overstreet (Sam) is already raving about how sweet, funny, likeable, and quirky she is.

Speaking exclusively with Wetpaint Entertainment at Glee’s Season 4 premiere party, Melissa opened up about which part of her Glee experience has been the most unexpected so far — and what parts of Marley’s sweet-yet-determined personality she loves the most.

What's the biggest surprise about being on Glee?
Just how goofy everyone is. I guess that wouldn't be a surprise because you can kind of see that, but on set, the environment is so incredibly playful and fun. And like you can just be you and be dorky and weird, and it's really fun.

Technically, Blaine is “The New Rachel,” but do you think Marley might be trying for that spot, too?
She definitely has her own aspirations, but you could say that they are similar to Rachel's. But they're different. I think in that respect, she's very passionate about what she wants and how she wants her life to end up.

What do you love about Marley?
I love how soulful she is and how passionate and kind she is.

Were you a fan of Glee before?
I was. I definitely was.

What was the audition process like for you?
I auditioned first in New York numerous times, call backs and call backs and call backs, and then finally, they brought me out to LA to test. And I did some cross country auditioning back and forth and that was crazy and a whirlwind. And it hasn’t really stopped since then.
