You might not know Romy Rosemont by name, but you certainly know her work. She plays Finn’s (Cory Monteith) mother and Kurt’s (Chris Colfer) new stepmother Carole on Glee. But believe it or not, the role Romy really wanted went to — wait for it — Jane Lynch!
That’s right, the woman behind the sweet, Burt Hummel-loving Carole wanted to fill Sue’s conniving, glee club-hating shoes.
“I auditioned knowing I wasn’t going to get it,” she confessed to MassLive.com. “Sue Sylvester is so juicy.”
Does Romy feel bad that she didn’t get the part? “I envy that Jane gets to play more on the show than me, but I think she’s great as Sue,” she said, calling her co-star “gifted.”
Though we haven’t seen much of Carole since “Furt,” Romy believes her character would be pleased with the way Kurt has handled his blooming relationship with Blaine (Darren Criss). “Carole would be really happy Kurt is happy. She’s very impressed with the fact that Kurt owns who he is. Any mother would want someone who is consistent for their child.”
As for a potential Karofsky-Kurt romance, Romy says Carole would be “apprehensive,” but would have to trust Kurt’s instincts.
Hmm, we’ll just put her in the Team Klaine category for now.
