The New Directions take on PSY’s viral hit “Gangnam Style” for Sectionals during Glee Season 4, Episode 8: “Thanksgiving,” and since practically the entire song is in Korean, every cast member got the chance to try singing in a foreign tongue.

While Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina) is the one singing most of the lyrics, her fellow glee clubbers also ended up learning the words. Wetpaint Entertainment spoke exclusively with Vanessa Lengies (Sugar) and she told us that the ability to sing “Gangnam Style” has actually come in handy for her.

Tell us about doing “Gangnam Style.”
Oh my gosh. It's so funny because we had to learn Korean to do this, and Jenna was a superstar. First of all, I'm obsessed with this girl. I love her so much. Even though we spent so much time together the last year, it was almost like there was so much going on, and our characters never interacted. Then we didn't have the chance as individuals to interact. Now, we've gotten to this year, and it's been great. And she was a superstar.

She had to learn every single word of “Gangnam Style.” She did a great job. And all of us had to learn a part of the song, and we had one of Ryan Murphy's interns, who was like, ‘Oh, I speak Korean, fluently,’ and so she came and she kind of schooled us in Korean. And it was great. It was so funny because now I'm on vacation.

And the other night we were at a Karaoke bar, and the guy running the show was like, ”Hey, anybody know how to sing ‘Gangnam Style’?” And everyone was laughing, and I literally was like, ‘Yes, I do.’ And I went up, and I did it. And it was hilarious because not in a million years would I ever have expected to be able to do that, and it was awesome. It felt so cool. People thought I was nuts. Like how do you know the words? I’m like, “Long story.”
