Update: Now it's totally confirmed. The role will be smaller, but Blaine will be in the episode, after all.

We were heartbroken to hear that Darren Criss (Blaine) would be missing Glee’s Valentine’s Day episode. Absolutely crushed.

Look, we’re okay with Darren missing a few Glee episodes so he can go off and be a big Broadway star. We totally support that. We just really wished the Valentine’s Day ep didn’t have to be one of them!

Last year’s Valentine’s Day show, “Silly Love Songs,” had some really sweet Kurt and Blaine moments. It hurts to think that we won’t get that this year! But even though Chris Colfer (Kurt) told TVLine earlier this month that Blaine would be missing from the ep, we’ve recently begun to wonder if that’s actually the case.

Hear us out: Darren finished his last Broadway performance of How To Succeed on January 22, and we know for sure that he was back to work on Glee in L.A. on January 24.

On that day, Glee music producer Alex Anders tweeted, “Good to have @DarrenCriss back in the studio today. @chriscolfer is up next!”

The best part? Glee is still totally filming the Valentine’s Day episode right now! Scenes from an outdoor courtyard scene — complete with heart-shaped candy and chocolate — taped on January 25.

That said, Glee often shoots multiple episodes at once. We know for sure that Dot-Marie Jones (Coach Beiste) has begun filming the next week's episode, so Darren’s vocals could technically be from that show. Also possible? Darren may have returned at the tail end of filming — only in time for a final group number, but not much else.

So don’t expect tons of Blaine in Glee’s Valentine’s Day episode. He may only show up for an instant. All we know is Glee is still filming. And Darren is definitely back to work.
