Can you believe it? Darren Criss’ (Blaine) highly-anticipated Broadway debut is now just days away! The Glee cutie takes over Daniel Radcliffe’s role in How to Succeed Without Really Trying on Tuesday, January 3, and continues until January 22.
The only problem? Glee’s winter break doesn’t last that long — so expect Darren to be MIA on the show for a bit!
Really … can’t he just do both? Yeah, we KNOW that Glee films in Los Angeles, while Broadway is situated quite firmly on the opposite end of the country in NYC. But he’s Darren Criss! Can’t he be in two places at once, or something? Please?!
Unfortunately, even Darren freakin’ Criss isn’t that much of a superhero. Luckily for us Glee fans, though, Blaine won’t be away from the show very long at all.
According to EW.com, Darren will only miss one Glee episode, and it should be sometime in early February. See? That’s really not too bad, at all.
Rob Ashford, How To Succeed’s director-choreographer, recently told Playbill, “When we learned of Darren's dream of performing on Broadway we knew we had found our Finch but presumed his Glee schedule would eliminate any chance to work with him. We are ecstatic and grateful to Ryan Murphy and his Glee team at 20th Century Fox TV for helping to make both Darren’s and our dream come true.”
Well, if being on Broadway really is Darren’s dream come true — then we guess we can go without him on Glee for a little bit.
