Chris Colfer’s debut film Struck by Lightning opened in theaters this weekend, and the result wasn’t too shabby.
The film — which also stars Allison Janney and Rebel Wilson and has been available on-demand since last month — was released on January 11 to eight theaters. Over the course of the weekend, it made $12,940, which is a so-so per-theater average of $1,617.
By comparison, the weekend’s top-grossing film, Zero Dark Thirty, collected a per-theater average of $8,321. Still, for a rising star like Chris, we think these numbers are worth celebrating!
Reviews for Struck by Lightning haven’t all been stellar, but it’s gotten its share of good notices, with Rolling Stone saying that Chris’s script offers “sass and soul.” And what more can you want than sass and soul?
