Most of the time, when we find out the ages of the actors who play high schoolers on Glee, we’re shocked by how old they actually are.

Cory Monteith (Finn), Mark Salling (Puck), and Harry Shum Jr. (Mike) — whose characters just graduated from high school last year — are each already 30 years old. Even Melissa Benoist, who plays fresh-faced sophomore Marley Rose, is actually 24 years old!

So we had to find out: How old is Jacob Artist, the baby-faced cutie who plays Marley’s love interest Jake Puckerman?

As it turns out, Jacob is actually much closer in age to his Glee character than almost any of his co-stars. The New York native turned 20 years old on October 17, which means that he began his Glee role when he was still only 19.

Jacob’s co-stars Alex Newell (Unique) and Blake Jenner (Ryder) are also 20 years old, making them the youngest core cast members. All three of them were born in 1992 — the same year that co-star Cory Monteith turned 10 years old. Crazy thought, no?
