Two of the best vocalists to ever appear on Glee are about to team up again!
Broadway veteran Idina Menzel is returning to Glee on Season 4, Episode 18 to reprise her role as Rachel’s (Lea Michele) mom, Shelby. And now Idina has revealed that the mother-daughter combo will be performing a song together. Nothing like bonding over an impromptu tune.
On March 21, Idina tweeted:
We can’t wait, since we sadly haven’t seen these two together since Season 3! And don’t worry, Idina: We know what you mean by “buttah” — and we have no doubt that your voices will be that tantalizing.
So the big question now is which song they’ll be doing. We could see them performing a pop ballad or perhaps a show tune. Or did Idina use the word “buttah” as a hint that they’re doing a Barbra song — since that word is often used to impersonate Babs?
Hearing the two of them sing Barbra would be more than incredible. Then again, we’re not sure if there’s even a Barbra song left that Lea hasn’t already covered on Glee.
We’re now curious to find out how this new song will measure up to our previous Rachel-Shelby favorites, like Season 1’s “I Dreamed a Dream” and Season 3’s “Somewhere.”
Of course, the only thing that would make Rachel and Shelby’s reunion perfect is if her hilarious two dads would be there, too. Berry family hug!
