There’s a whole lotta rumbling out there about tonight’s episode of Glee. In “Swan Song,” Brittany (Heather Morris) and Sam (Chord Overstreet) shared some sparks — and a kiss! While we’re sure it was a good smooch, legions of Brittana shippers are super mad, and seem to feel the show is betraying the lesbian community.
But hold up a second! As far as we know, a) Brittany got dumped and b) she’s never identified herself as a lesbian...
While Santana (Naya Rivera) struggled a lot with her sexuality and ultimately arrived at the conclusion that she is only into chicks, Brittany’s sexuality remains fluid. In “Born This Way,” Brittany labels herself as “bi-curious.” In “I am Unicorn,” Brittany says she’s a “bi-corn.” Basically, we’re gonna stick with that as her official orientation on the grounds that it’s awesome.
So rather than see her potential relationship with Sam as a betrayal to the lesbian community, why not see it as a way to explore the theme of bisexuality, a sexual identity that is pretty hugely ignored in media?
Obviously Brittana is endgame, but in the meantime, why not let Brittany explore both her AC and her DC sides for a while?
