At last! Jessica Sanchez’s first Glee episode has just been announced. The 17-year-old vocal powerhouse, who came in second place to Phillip Phillips on Season 11 of American Idol, will be making her Glee debut on the May 2 episode.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals the news, but also points out that May 2 will be Glee’s second to last episode of the season! You read that right. We barely get the chance to meet Jessica’s character before Season 4 is over for good.

That is the bad news, but it gets better, we promise. For one, THR has the first official details on what sort of character Jessica will play. The site reports that she’ll be “a legendary singer from a rival high school.

Jesse St. James (Jonathan Groff), Sunshine Corazon (Charice)... This show certainly has a history of bringing in famous young faces from the music world to play the stars of a rival glee club!

Like Jonathan and Charice before her, Jessica will be sticking around for more than one episode. Original reports revealed that she’ll have a recurring role rather than a one-time guest appearance, and THR confirms that Jessica will also star in Glee’s May 9 season finale.

No word yet on whether she’ll be back for Season 5, but if the New Directions’ Sectionals storyline is part of that big cliffhanger we’ve been hearing about, she certainly might be.
