Lea Michele and Boyfriend Cory Monteith Both Win 2012 Do Something Awards
Glee stars — and real-life couple — Lea Michele (Rachel) and Cory Monteith (Finn) took home his and hers Do Something Awards during the charity-focused awards show’s 2012 event Sunday night.
Cory, nominated for his work in arts education and homeless youth alongside with Virgin founder Richard Branson, won in the category of TV Star: Male. Lea, who has vocally supported PETA numerous times and recently performed at a cancer research benefit, took home the award for TV Star: Female.
On August 19, Cory, who attended the awards in John Varvatos, tweeted, “I won a do something award!! thank you so much for voting!!!!!!! :) :)” Seconds later, Lea, who wore a backless Armani dress to the show, tweeted, “So excited to have just won a DO SOMETHING AWARD!!!! Thank you to everyone at VH1 and @dosomething!! #dosomethingawards2012”
She very soon added, “Thank you to all of my amazing, incredible, loyal and FABULOUS fans who voted for me!!! Love you guys!!!”
The Do Something Awards air Tuesday, August 21, at 9pm on VH1. Cory and Lea’s Glee co-star Harry Shum Jr. (Mike) is also at the event, presenting one of the awards alongside TV host Maria Menounos.
