Glee co-stars Lea Michele (Rachel) and Cory Monteith (Finn) are dating. Ask almost any Glee fan, and they will quickly tell you as much.
Cory and Lea have been a couple since Valentine’s Day of 2012, and probably a few months longer than that. They take romantic vacations together. They go to events together all the time. They’ve even kissed and held hands in public on multiple occasions.
Yet neither of the two has ever actually confirmed that they’re dating. They talk about each other on Twitter and in interviews, but the words “my girlfriend, Lea” and “my boyfriend, Cory” have never been spoken.
Now, almost 10 months after fans first learned about their relationship, Cory has finally confirmed that the two really are an item! The Glee star appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show on December 6, and he ended up confirming his relationship in pretty much the most adorable way possible.
During the interview, Ellen told Cory that she was going to ask him a couple of fan questions from Twitter. “Here’s one. I’ll just read one. It’s from @ItsaGleeThing. Can you imagine if Ellen asked Cory if he knows what Monchele is? I would die. Do you know what Monchele is?"
Cory looked at her, sheepishly grinning towards the floor. “Of course I know what Monchele is. It’s Monteith and Lea Michele.”
“Because people think that y’all are a couple,” Ellen said. “We are,” he replied, smiling again and bashfully looking to the side. The audience erupted into a flood of high-pitched screams, and Cory looked out at them, laughing. “Of course we are.”
He thought it was obvious. We thought it was obvious. We’re just glad that Cory and Lea are finally willing to own up to it.
Plus, it sounds like things couldn’t be going better for Monchele. “We just had a lovely weekend,” Cory said. “I took her snowboarding for her first time at Whistler in Canada. She’s actually very good. I asked the instructor. I said, ‘How did she do?’ And she said, ‘Honestly, for her first time, never ever snowboarding before, she was actually really good.’”
How adorably sweet of a boyfriend is he? Now, if you’ll excuse us, we have to go lock ourselves in an empty room and jump around for a few minutes squealing with pure excitement and joy. We’ll be right back.
