When it was announced that there would be a revival of Funny Girl, everyone assumed that Lea Michele (Rachel) would be in contention for the leading role. After all, Lea loves Funny Girl and has performed many songs from the Barbra Streisand classic on stage and on Glee. But don’t think her appearance in the show is a forgone conclusion.
"I don’t see how she could possible be available because she is doing Glee," show director Bartlett Sher told the New York Times. "This is the hardest part I’ve ever had to cast," he added, and announced that producers would be looking for someone to play the part via an online search.
Online search? Puh-leeze. Just give this role to Lea; she’ll make time and make it work!
