For those of you out there waiting with bated breath for more info on the film adaptation of Spring Awakening – you may want to steel yourself for some less-than-exciting news following last week’s massive tease from director McG

In response to what was guaranteed to be some major internet buzz after McG’s comments, reps for Lea Michele (Rachel) and – Lea herself – were quick to dispel any huge incoming casting announcements.

(Cue one massive collective frownnn!)

Lea released a statement to Entertainment Weekly that said, “Spring Awakening is so special to me, as is the character Wendla. We have discussed this as a possibility, and we’ll see what happens.”

Continued Lea’s rep, “There were initial talks about this project. However, there is nothing confirmed at this time.”

EW reports that the “talks” are said to have taken place quite some time ago, and though any sort of delay in Tinseltown usually means bad news… the response doesn’t totally leave us without hope!

Let’s be honest, Lea is the only gal for this job! And though the Spring Awakening movie has long been in the development stages, perhaps it’s been delayed because they are working hard on getting everyone’s schedules to coincide? Call us optimists, but with SA’s rock-solid fanbase, we have a feeling at least some of the original cast members will make the jump to the big-screen version. (J.Groff, anyone? Please?)

What we’re sayin’ is, KEEP THE FAITH!
