If you ask us, Lea Michele (Rachel) is drop-dead gorgeous, always has been drop-dead gorgeous, and always will be drop-dead gorgeous. But apparently, Lea didn’t quite feel that way growing up.

Lea tells Women’s Wear Daily that she is still stunned to have been chosen as the new spokesperson for L’Oreal Paris. “Growing up, I was never really considered the typical beauty, so the fact that I’m now the face of such an incredible company and brand is so awesome,” Lea says. “That they would look at me and consider me is unbelievable.”

Lea has a theory as to why she was chosen by L’Oreal. “I think I have a type of look that is very relatable, that’s different and unique that girls can look at and say, ‘I feel like I look like her,” she explains. And we certainly appreciate Lea’s modesty — isn’t she the best? — but frankly, we wish we could look like Lea. 

As for the progress on Lea’s debut solo album, she encourages her fans to be patient. “It’s a pretty slow process right now, so I think we are figuring it out as we go, but I do want to make a pop album rather than a Broadway standard album,” Lea says.

And don’t let the fact that she’s pursuing other avenues fool you into thinking she’s bored with Glee. Quite the opposite, in fact. “I’m so happy on the show,” she says. “I really think that it’s been such a blessing to be on a TV show that portrays inner beauty as well as external beauty.”
