Lea Michele (Rachel) has already enlisted the help of Katy Perry’s songwriter for her debut album, and now she’s getting a hand from another famous face in pop music.
“In the studio now working on my album... Recording another amazing song written by @sia..” Lea tweeted on February 19. “Sia you are incredible this song is amazing!”
Sia has been writing and performing her own music for about a decade, but the Australian singer is most famous for her recent collaborations with David Guetta — on his 2012 hit “Titanium” — and Flo Rida — on the 2013 chart-topper, “Wild Ones.”
Lea is working with a handful of different songwriters on her album, and we can’t wait to hear what sort of a track Sia has come up with for her.
So far, there’s no official release date for Lea’s album. But judging from how often she tweets about being in the recording studio, Lea definitely seems to be hard at work.
Don’t expect a bunch of Broadway show tunes on Lea’s debut album, though. While the Glee star has a long history on Broadway — including her starring role alongside Glee co-stars Jonathan Groff (Jesse St. James) and Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina) in Spring Awakening — Lea says she wants to keep her musical venture more in the bubble-gum pop variety.
“I want to make songs where girls can just roll down the windows of their car or dance around in their rooms in their underwear, like, ‘I hate my ex-boyfriend!’ or ‘I’m so in love!’” she told NYLON magazine.
So let’s get this straight: Lea Michele. Love. Dancing. Underwear... and with songs written by Katy Perry’s songwriter and Sia? This just might be shaping up to become one of our future favorite albums of all time.
