Just two episodes ago, Glee did something that it has never done before. Not once, in all four seasons. They made an entire episode that did not include Rachel (Lea Michele).

Plenty of things happened during Season 4, Episode 5: “The Role You Were Born to Play.” We met Blake Jenner’s Ryder. The New Directions held tryouts for Grease. Finn (Cory Monteith) had a mini-identity crisis. Plenty of things happened in Lima, but we never even got a glimpse of the action in New York City once.

We took a poll, and Glee fans actually seem pretty split as to whether or not a Rachel-free episode was a good idea. 44% voted that Glee is awesome with or without Rachel, while 56% thought the episode suffered without Glee’s leading lady.

But whatever your feelings on the issue, the fact of the matter is this: Glee is about to do it again. TV Line reports that this Thanksgiving’s Season 4, Episode 7: “Dynamic Duets” will feature a “total absence” of all of the show’s NYC-based characters.

That means no Rachel, no Kurt (Chris Colfer), and no Brody (Dean Geyer). Then again, there will be plenty of this. And this. And this — so the whole situation might turn out not quite as bad as you think!
