Still working on that New Year’s Resolution list? How about this one: Be more like Mark Salling!
This holiday season, the mohawked Glee star has partnered up with the Child Hunger Ends Here campaign to spread the word on the 17 million children in the U.S. alone living in food insecure households and at-risk for hunger.
The campaign works much like the long-running Box Tops for Education or Campbell’s Soup label redemption, encouraging students to collect UPC labels from all ConAgra products at their schools, and then send them in. For each label received, ConAgra donates one meal to a child in need. (So you know that Hunt’s ketchup bottle in your fridge? Not just for smothering over your tater tots, gleeks. “We should all try to do something about child hunger,” Mark told Everyday Health of his involvement in the campaign. “This is a pretty easy way to help the kids down the street.”
Mark’s no stranger to the do-gooder lifestyle! As you’ll recall, on top of the efforts made by the whole Glee family, Mark’s been known to lend his name to charity in the past, too. "Part of my daily routine is to do something selfless and charitable," he said. “This [campaign] is just another easy way to do that.”
