Glee guest-star Matt Bomer made headlines following an acceptance speech at a recent Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards in which he – more or less – came out for the first time publicly.
Matt, who debuts as Blaine’s (Darren Criss) older brother in an Glee Episode 15 "Big Brohther," has never publicly confirmed his sexuality before, but the rumor mill has long identified his partner as publicist Simon Halls.
While accepting the New Generation Arts and Activism Award for work in the fight against HIV/AIDS, Bomer said, “I’d really especially like to thank my beautiful family: Simon, Kit, Walker, Henry. Thank you for teaching me what unconditional love is. You will always be my proudest accomplishment.” Watch the video here.
Kit, Walker and Henry are Matt and Simon’s three children. We’ll note that Matt never used the words “my partner, Simon,” but implication seems clear enough. Plus, given the sweet and heartfelt way the thank you message was delivered, we’re lovin’ the “Awww” factor of this sweet moment for Matt and his family!
When asked about his sexuality in 2010, Matt told Details magazine, “I don’t care about that at all. I’m completely happy and fulfilled in my personal life.”
In addition to his slot on Glee as Blaine’s big bro, Cooper Anderson, Matt will appear in the big-screen adaptation of the HIV/AIDS drama, The Normal Heart, directed by… yep, Ryan Murphy! Do we smell a budding creative bromance?
