For those hoping to see more of Dave Karofsky in future Glee episodes, the prospects of that happening just got a bit more uncertain. The reason? Actor Max Adler has booked a new TV pilot on ABC, and he’s already flying off to Hawaii to begin filming!
On February 28, TV Line reported that Max will appear in a new ABC drama pilot called Last Resort, which takes place on board a submarine.
Yep. A submarine. Totally cool, right? Starring Felicity’s Scott Speedman — swoon! — and Homicide’s Andre Braugher, the new show tells the story a U.S. nuclear submarine crew find themselves fugitives after refusing to fire their missiles. They make camp on a tropical island and declare themselves an independent nuclear nation.
On top of that, Max is already jetting off to begin work on the show. On February 28, he tweeted, "Off to Hawaii in the morning to film @ShawnRyanTV's newest amazing project, #LastResort for ABC. Thrilled!!"
His Glee co-star Grant Gustin (Sebastian) quickly tweeted, "@MrMaxAdler @ShawnRyanTV DUDE! So dope! Congrats!"
Now, on to the really important part. What does this mean for Karofsky’s return on Glee?
A fan tweeted, "@MrMaxAdler I guess that means no more Karofsky for season 3. Major disappointment," to which Max responded, "Not necessarily. Anything can happen"
So how might that work? First of all, Last Resort is still only a pilot. There’s no guarantee yet that it will get picked up for a full season. Secondly, Max is currently listed only as a guest star. So even if the show does get picked up, it’s still unclear whether he will continue in future episodes.
That said, we’re certainly happy to see Max getting more acting opportunities. He’s already proved himself to be a phenomenal actor in his award-worthy Glee scenes. We just don’t want to lose Karofsky on the show!
So even if Last Resort does get picked up, we hope he can still come back to guest star in future Glee episode. Though, if production stays in Hawaii... that might prove a bit difficult.
