2Cellos have teamed up again with Glee’s Naya Rivera (Santana) for another awesome cover tune!
In Glee’s Season 3: Episode 11: "Michael," Santana and Sebastian (Grant Gustin) performed a fabulous rendition of the Michael Jackson song “Smooth Criminal.” They were backed up by the cello duo known as 2Cellos — a.k.a. the “cello guys,” as Santana referred to them in the episode.
As it turns out, 2Cellos have a devoted following of fans who love their cello covers of rock and pop tunes. The two Croatian cellists have appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and toured with Elton John, and they will be releasing a new album, In2ition, next month.
One of the songs off that album is a cover of Muse’s “Supermassive Black Hole,” and the vocals are performed by none other than Naya herself! The cellos sound great, but Naya blows us away with her voice, as to be expected.
They have now released a sexy music video for the tune, in which the two guys — in a spaceship, mind you — are somehow able to concentrate on playing cello while Naya writhes around nearby in a revealing catsuit. Kudos on your willpower, guys.
And now that we’ve seen this video, we realize that this is why Naya was getting her makeup and hair done in a pic that Glee’s assistant choreographer Brooke Lipton shared back in August. Naya responded to the pic at the time by tweeting, “Now let’s dance around like strippers,” which finally makes sense, since that’s exactly what she does in the video!
And if the future means that we’ll all someday be on a spaceship while Naya dances around with amazing eye makeup and looks ridiculously hot, then bring on the future!
