There is no doubt about it, Glee Project fans love Nellie Veitenheimer. She may have been eliminated in Episode 7, but that hasn’t seemed to affect how much the fans love her one bit.

Nellie’s miles above all the other contenders in Oxygen’s official fan-voted contender rankings, and she even beat out Damian McGinty (Rory) in our poll about which contender you all are most excited to see return for the finale.

So while you won’t be able to hear Nellie on the tracks of any upcoming Glee songs, that doesn’t mean you’ve heard the last of her — or her music!

On August 13, Nellie tweeted, “BIG announcement: I'll be releasing a single very, very soon. (within the month) Stay tuned as I slowly release details.” During an interview with King Mac Radio later that day, she added that the song would be an original, not a cover, and that she plans to release it on her Bandcamp page.

We don’t know much about the song — other than i’ts title, “Lights” — but it sounds like plenty of her Glee Project friends have heard it already. Moments after he saw Nellie’s tweet about her new single, former contender Tyler Ford wrote, “@nellielisabeth And it's the most amazing song ever, bye.

In other Glee Project music news, former contender Maxfield Camp released his debut EP on iTunes that same day. It contains three songs with an undeniable country flair, “Saturday Night,” “Cowboy,” and “Teach Me to Love.”

“Just woke up to everyone's amazing tweets about the new record!” Maxfield tweeted on August 14. “Thank you so much for taking the time to listen!”
