Santana (Naya Rivera) is back again during next week’s Glee Season 4, Episode 13: “Diva,” but she won’t be making nearly as short of an appearance as you might be used to. Nope, Aunty Snixx has a total of three songs this episode.
We’ve seen the promo for the episode, and now it’s time to get to work dissecting it. Take a look back over the video with us: second-by-second, frame-by-frame, and see what hidden secrets we’ve managed to uncover.
00:01 — Glee’s divas: show yourselves!
We all know that plenty of the Glee kids have a flair for the dramatic, and now all of them are ready for a moment in the spotlight. Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz) struts down the hallway of McKinley in a hot pink leotard. We’ve already seen a photo from this scene, and we know from song spoilers that she’s singing Madonna’s “Hung Up.” Werk it, girl!
00:02 — Rachel takes the stage to sing.
Kurt (Chris Colfer), too. Back at McKinley High, Unique (Alex Newell) shows off her inner diva in a sassy gold dress and fierce wig.
00:03 — “Being a diva is about finding your inner powerhouse”
Okay, well we’re not sure Finn (Cory Monteith) is exactly qualified to give out advice about being a diva. But it is “Diva Week” at McKinley, and he is the glee club director. So we guess it makes sense that he’d be explaining diva-ness to the group.
00:04 — Let’s not forget Blaine!
“Guys can be divas, too,” he tells a totally enraptured Tina. Of course you can be, Blaine (Darren Criss). And you work those red feathers. We’re sure your version of Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now” is going to be top-notch.
00:05 — Brittany doesn’t get it, though.
“I’m really confused,” she tells Sam (Chord Overstreet). This is worse than the time that my parent’s forgot me at Sears and I had to spend the night in the dryer.” Oh, Britt. Never change. (Except, we guess you should probably stop sleeping inside of household cleaning appliances.)
00:09 — “It’s the ultimate DIVA SHOWDOWN”
Rachel’s singing. The New Directions are having an all-diva performance — and singing Beyonce’s “Diva,” nonetheless! And don’t even get us started on Brittany’s (Heather Morris) pink, sparkly, and jewel-encrusted gown. Glam.
00:14 — Brody sets the stage.
“It’s not a performance. It’s a blood sport.” Welp. That doesn’t sound promising.
00:16 — “Two will enter”
Kurt stares Rachel (Lea Michele) down. “I. Blew. You. Away,” he tells her. Does this mean he won the Kurt vs. Rachel Diva-off? They’re singing “Bring Him Home” from Les Miserables. Seems like sort of a weird song to do as a sing-off.
00:21 — “Only one can survive”
Santana is back, too, and thank goodness! We can’t wait to hear all three of her songs. “Please don’t tell my mom,” she tells a grim-looking Sue (Jane Lynch).
“Oh, I can’t,” Sue replies. “I don’t speak Spanish.”
