For months, Glee Project fans had been waiting for Season 2 winner Blake Jenner to make his big Glee debut as new football jock Ryder Lynn. The moment finally came during Glee Season 4, Episode 5, and the newcomer quickly proved that he knows how to put on quite a show!

Ryder and
Finn (Cory Monteith) teamed up to perform the ‘80s classic rock hit “Juke Box Hero,” by Foreigner. The McKinley high stage transformed into a rock concert, with drums, guitars, and plenty of screaming fans.

So what is it like for a band like Foreigner to see one of their hit songs covered on Glee? Wetpaint Entertainment spoke exclusively with lead singer Kelly Hansen for his thoughts on the recent track, and the other Foreigner hits that have appeared on Glee in the past. Regardless of the track covered, Kelly says the talent on Glee in “undeniable.”

How did it come about getting "Juke Box Hero" on Glee?
The popularity of classic rock played a huge role, its many people’s favorite Foreigner track.

Had you seen Glee before? What did you think of the show?
I have. I’m not sure I’m their demographic, but its an awesome show, and the talent there is undeniable!

Glee also did Foreigner's "Waiting for a Girl Like You" in November 2011 when high schooler Puck (Mark Salling) sang it to his daughter, Beth, to help her stop crying. Have you seen that performance? What did you think of it?
I did see the performance and I thought it was great. You have to remember, the show's version is not meant to be a "radio" song, so the gentleness of the performance really works here.

Glee seems to have a thing for 80s music, especially since Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" is such an iconic song for the show. Do you see a resurgence or renewed interest in 80s music lately? If so, why would you say that is?
I know that classic rock has been big for some years now. Maybe it's because not only are these songs great, but they've been around and permeated the culture and had time to stick, unlike many one off songs and artists now. It's so hard to build a long lasting career now, it's like here now, gone the next minute!

Blake Jenner, who plays Ryder, also sang "Waiting for a Girl Like You" when he was still a contestant on The Glee Project this summer. Have you seen it? Glee seems to be doing a fair amount of Foreigner songs lately!
I think its great that a whole new generation of fans get to learn our music. We see fans of all ages at our shows and shows like Glee certainly help younger fans get to know our songs!
