We were prepared to meet the latest glee club hopeful Sugar Motta in the Season 3 premiere. What we weren’t prepared for was how much we would love every bit of Venessa Lengies off-key singing, Asperger’s self-diagnosing, invisible backpack of privilege-wearing character. From her deluded claim that she sang better than Idina Menzel’s Shelby Cocoran  (“Asperger’s”) to her post-screech audition hallway showdown with Mr. Schue (“not Asperger’s!”), Sugar's made quite the impression on her McKinley High peers and Glee fans alike.

While it’s clear Sugar definitely needs less Paula Abdul and more Simon Cowell in her life, we’ll be damned if we don’t find her blind confidence a bit inspiring — if not really entertaining. And while you won’t catch us calling for an encore of her “Big Spender” trainwreck of a performance, we do hope her promised third episode won’t be her last. They should at least give her a chance to live up to her name. (Because Glee can never have enough redemption stories, right?)

What about YOU, Gleeks? Are you loving or hating (or loving to hate) Sugar so far?
