Earlier this week, Glee creator Ryan Murphy revealed to Vulture some fantastic news: All of the series regulars get to come back for Season 4! Now, Vulture has a more extended version of that same interview, and Ryan’s dropping even more Glee bombshells.
Here’s a big one: It appears that Will (Matthew Morrison) might not be getting married at all.
Wait a second. The Will and Emma (Jayma Mays) wedding is off? We already knew it was "definitely not happening” in Season 3, but we thought for sure there’d be a big Wemma wedding come Season 4.
Let’s break it down. During the interview, Vulture asks Ryan, “What about Will Schuester? Do you feel like there are more stories to tell for him, especially since he’s about to become happily married?”
Ryan responds simply, “He doesn’t get married.”
Vulture gasps, “Spoilers!” — but Ryan simply laughs before continuing, “We have really good things planned for Matt [Morrison], and we have really good things planned for Jane [Lynch]. What I like is they will no longer be playing the same stories. Jane needs to get a new enemy and fast. Same for Matt. Matt has to have a new challenge and a new thing. We did not want to repeat the formula we’ve done. The show will be very different, but I think very satisfying.”
So what do you think? Does this new revelation mean the Wemma wedding is off for good, or do you still see ambiguity in Ryan’s words? We want to believe there’s still hope, but the evidence at this point does not look good.
In additional Season 4 news, Ryan teases that Glee’s move from 8 to 9pm means that the show can “go back to a little bit more [mature] writing. We’re doing that.”
Hmm. Sounds... scandalous?
