When Ryder (Blake Jenner) kissed Marley (Melissa Benoist) during last week’s Season 4, Episode 6: “Glease,” we thought that the moment couldn’t have been more perfect. Ryder is kind, caring, has a great sense of humor.... and he’s super-attractive. He and Marley would make an adorable couple.
But then there’s Jake (Jacob Artist). Marley and Jake had instant chemistry, and their “Crazy” duet during the Britney Spears episode is probably one of the most romantic songs we’ve seen on Glee this season. Of course, Jake blew his chances with Marley when he tossed her aside and started dating Kitty (Becca Tobin), but it's becoming clearer and clearer each week that Jake still has very strong feelings for Marley.
The look on his face when Ryder and Marley kissed almost broke our hearts. And the love triangle between the three only got more complex during this week’s Glee Season 4, Episode 7: “Dynamic Duets.” For one, Ryder started acting not-so-nice to Jake. Maybe the perfect football jock isn’t so perfect after all.
Jake, on the other hand, showed off his soft side. He was nothing but kind to Marley’s mom, and he’s definitely starting to prove that he has a kind soul hiding under that angry and rebellious persona. The thing that impressed us the most, however, is how Jake made the decision this episode not to go after Marley. He sees that Ryder is into her, and he has enough newfound respect for his new friend not to get in the way.
Of course, it’s not entirely up to Jake. After Ryder cancelled a date with Marley, the usually timid wallflower marched straight up to Jake and asked him out on Friday night. Are you glad that Marley and Jake seem to be rekindling their potential for romance, or do you hope that she holds out for Ryder in the end?
The popular, hot jock or the rebellious outsider with a heart of gold: Which of the two guys do you hope that Marley ultimately ends up with?
