Sound Off Against Glee Censorship Overseas
It’s hard to imagine Fox ever censoring anything on Glee here in the states, but it’s a different story overseas. In the Philippines, for instance, the monumental kiss between Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Blaine (Darren Criss) in last week’s “Original Song” was not shown.
Frustrated by this, fans have taken to the Internet to voice their displeasure. “Solar Entertainment, which broadcasts Glee in the Philippines, chose to censor [the Kurt/Blaine kiss]. The company has done it before and will do it again, perpetuating a vicious cycle of homophobia and discrimination against LGBTs in the Philippines,” says an online petition.
If you want to support the cause — no matter where you live — sign the petition at Change.org! Though we won’t hold our breath for Victoria Jackson to jump on board, we’re confident that Gleeks around the world will sound off.
