Coach Beiste (Dot-Marie Jones) has been missing from quite a few Glee episodes lately. But now that she’s back, the McKinley High football coach certainly knows how to make a splash!
Glee Season 4, Episode 18: "Shooting Star" has a major emphasis on last chances, brought on by all the end-of-the-world talk. This gave Beiste the courage to do something she probably never would have otherwise: She confessed her true feelings for Will (Matthew Morrison).
It’s no secret that these two have been close friends for a long time. Though their relationship has never been romantic, Will has stuck with Shannon through many difficult times. Sometime over the course of all of that, her feelings toward her friend turned into something more.
She cooks him an elaborate meal, and sets up a romantic table for two at McKinley. "I have punched a charging hippo straight in the face, and not been as scared as I am right now. You're the first guy who was ever willing to kiss me, the first one who made me feel like a girl."
"I'm proud to have been that man in your life," Will tells her.
That’s not all. "I want you to be the man in my life,” she tells him. For the first time since we've know each other, we're both single. Please, say something. If you don't I'm gonna die."
When Will reveals that he and Emma (Jayma Mays) are back together, Beiste leaves the room on the verge of tears. But later in the episode, the two seem to have reconciled, and Will even helps his friend set up an online dating profile.
"I love you," says one. "I love you, too," the other responds. They kiss. On the lips. It seems to be platonic, but its still a kiss.
