Remember back when Glee was casting a mysterious “imposing theatrical grande dame” who will join the show for both this season AND next? Well, the character has officially been cast — and you just might die from an acute overdose of awesome when you find out who she is!

TV Line reports comedy legend Whoopi Goldberg has been cast in the theatre maven role. What’s better, the news confirms our suspicions that Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Rachel’s (Lea Michele) future in New York City is also involved.

The site reports Whoopi will play Carmen Tibideaux, a theatrical grande dame and professor at The New York Academy of the Dramatic Arts. Carmen’s making the journey to Limo, Ohio for Glee’s May 1 episode, where she will oversee Kurt and Rachel’s NYADA auditions.

For now, TV Line says that Whoopi is only set for approximately three episodes. Yet given that early casting information named the role for both Season 3 and 4... we’re still feeling pretty confident that either Kurt or Rachel (and hopefully both!) will make it to NYC next year.

In any case, we’ll take as much of Whoopi on Glee as we can possibly get!
