If you watched contestants Dani Shay and Ali Stroker on Season 2 of The Glee Project this summer, it was easy to see that the two girls shared a close connection. Dani may have been eliminated early in the competition, but when she came back for the Glee Project finale, the two rushed to hug each other as soon as they could.
Yet what at first appeared to be just a close friendship is actually something more intimate. Dani wrote a new song, “One,” all about her love for Ali — and the girls aren’t afraid to get affectionate in the music video.
The “One” video shows Ali and Dani cuddling and caressing in bed, splashing in the ocean, and playfully feeding each other ice cream. They kiss multiple times.
Both Dani and Ali took to their websites to blog about the music video. “I never expected to meet Dani and fall in love,” Ali writes, “and I especially never expected that I would want to share it with the world. Here I am. I couldn’t be more proud to share my love with all of you.”
For her part, Dani shared details about how the two fell in love after The Glee Project. “After I was eliminated in week 2, we weren't allowed to speak to each other, or have any contact until I returned for the finale episode 12 weeks later. During that time, we stayed focused on our goals, but wrote and kept letters for each other as well, to exchange when I got back. It all felt like a movie...”
She continues, “My song "One" was inspired by our connection which, to me, surpasses all physical definitions, "limitations", and expectations. ”
Both of the girls seem aware that not everyone will understand their love story. Ali writes, “It was never about gender or my wheelchair or the number of YouTube hits. It was always about the feeling that I felt when I was around her.”
She ends her blog by writing, “I want to thank Dani. This has been ONE of the greatest adventures of my life. You’ve helped me see so many new beautiful parts of life. Thank you for loving every part of who I am. Love really feels limitless with you!”
