It’s no secret that Blaine (Darren Criss) gets plenty of song solos on Glee. He’s pretty much the guy version of Rachel Berry (Lea Michele). When it doubt about a solo, the show often seems to decide they’ll just give it to him. And why not? You know he’ll kill it.

But, although there was a time when fans couldn’t seem to get enough of the cute crooner (and his penchant for jumping on top of inanimate objects mid-song), recently we’ve been noticing more and more viewers commenting how they wish Blaine could take a bit of a back seat for a while.

The Blaine-focused story in Season 3, Episode 15: “Big Brother,” was great, but some fans said they wished that the entire thing had been only about Quinn (Dianna Agron). and her recovery, with little room for anyone else.

While we think that alternative sounds a bit extreme, it is a fair point that big players like Blaine are taking up screentime that could be given to lesser-used characters like Puck (Mark Salling), Mike (Harry Shum Jr.) and Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz).

So is Glee getting ready to share Blaine’s spotlight? As a matter of fact, it is. Darren recently told EW, ”For Blaine, after “Big Brother,” he rightfully so takes sort of a backseat in the sense that we have these main characters, some of whom are about to take a really big step forward. I think Blaine will mostly be a support for those people and obviously for Kurt. So nothing huge or crazy for Blaine.”

Still, this doesn’t mean Blaine is disappearing off the face of the planet. As we’ve seen in spoiler clips and photos, he already has solos in both this week’s and next week’s Glee episodes.

Just don’t expect another lengthy Blaine backstory episode coming up before the season is over. Now is the graduating seniors’ time to shine!
