You may have noticed that the star of Glee, Lea Michele (Rachel Berry), has been a bit more scarce in this year’s episodes than she has in seasons past. In fact, we KNOW you’ve noticed, because a lot of fans have been super vocal about it, which is awesome — “vocal” is how all Gleeks should be. While expanding the storyline to follow Rachel and Kurt (Chris Colfer) to New York has allowed us to have some much needed Hummelberry time this season, Rachel is definitely not clocking as much screen time as she was when she was co-captain of the New Directions.
It’s true that Lea’s spending more time away from Glee, but she’s certainly not slacking. In fact, she’s been quite the busy bee lately! In addition to jetting between Los Angeles and New York for the show, Lea has been co-writing and recording her very first solo studio album. If you were hoping for a Barbra Streisand tribute album, however, you may be disappointed. In an interview with Women’s Wear Daily, Lea said she was more interested in making a pop album than a compilation of Broadway standards.
“Pop star” isn’t the only addition to her resume: she can also add “spokesmodel” to her list of accomplishments. Lea was recently named the “face” of L’Oreal Paris for 2013. (And what a gorgeous face it is!) Hmmm...if she sings, dances, acts, AND models, doesn’t that make her a quadruple threat?
If you’re worried that all those extracurriculars mean Lea is drifting away from her main gig, you can relax. Ryan Murphy has reassured fans time and again that Rachel is still and ever will be the star of the show, and it doesn’t sound like Lea has any plans to throw in the towel, either. Despite all the long hours, Lea says she loves her job:
