He may be only 16 years old onscreen as Jake Puckerman, Glee’s bad boy with a heart of gold (maybe), but actor Jacob Artist is a little older and wiser.

So, did the baby-faced cutie have a similar high school experience to Jake? It’s possible, but probably not. Unlike the boy who stumbles into singing, Jacob has had a ton of creative arts experience.

In fact, the 20-year-old actor is a total triple threat, having been a dancer since the wee age of five. In a TV Line interview, Jacob says he “trained intensively as a competitive dancer up until the end of high school. I did all genres, and later on a did a lot of extra ballet on top of that.”

But that amazing visual image isn’t the only thing he’s got hidden under that leather jacket. In fact, he actually got accepted into Juilliard for dance.

The audition process was incredible: You have to be there for a whole day, and there’s six rounds of cuts, and they only take twelve boys and twelve girls from around the world. So it was a huge accomplishment,” he says of the experience.

Ultimately, he decided to bypass the super exclusive school in favor of moving to L.A. to act. While we would pay money to see him in tights, we’re glad he chose to go back to school at McKinley instead.
