Did you know that several Glee stars hail from America’s neighbor to the north, eh?

There’s hardly a more all-American character on TV than Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith), who was McKinley’s star quarterback before enlisting in the Army. But Cory himself was born in Calgary and grew up in Victoria, British Columbia.

Cory’s resume contains hints that he’s from Canada. For example, he once starred on a 2005 Canadian drama called Whistler named after the Canadian ski resort town. On the show, Cory played a character with the hilarious name of “Lip Ring.” And here we thought Glee had silly character names. (Stoner Brett, anyone?)

Cory now lives in L.A. but still loves the pastimes from his snowy upbringing. He’s an avid snowboarder and, according to Entertainment Weekly, a huge fan of the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks. In other words, you can take the boy out of Canada...

But Cory isn’t the only cast member from the Great White North. Vanessa Lengies (Sugar) (Sugar) is from Montreal, while Nolan Gerard Funk (Hunter) was born in Vancouver.

So, if Glee ends up covering the song “Oh, Canada” in a future episode, you’ll know who’s responsible.
