Why Was Darren Criss Crying During the Presidential Inauguration?

It sounds like we can include Darren Criss on the long list of people who were blown away by Beyonce’s rendition of the national anthem during President Obama’s inauguration.

"I was somewhere in the crowd crying when Beyoncé was singing," Darren told E! Online on January 21, before word got out that Beyonce had been lip-syncing during her performance.

"It's Beyoncé — it's a double force there. I was just somewhere off to the side,” Darren said. “It's just such an incredible thing."

As for his own performance, he admits to being “so nervous” about singing for a slew of important people.

"It's incredibly nerve-racking to come out onstage,” he admits. “You look out and there's Dr. Biden and first lady Michelle Obama, and I'm looking out and my hands start jittering... and I'm sweating bullets."

Darren also claims he “screwed up a little bit, but hopefully nobody noticed.” Given that we have no idea what he’s talking about, we’re sure his secret was safe.

And how did his meet-and-greet go with the first lady? Darren says Michelle Obama was “very kind” when they were introduced. How cute!

We have to admit we’re jealous of Darren for getting to meet Michelle — but we’re also jealous of Michelle for getting to meet Darren! So much jealousy going on right now.
