Glee may have skipped its summer concert tour this year (sob!), but it sounds like the show is very close to firming up the details for a 2013 tour! You’d better keep your entire summer 2013 schedule clear, just to be on the safe side.
Glee creator Ryan Murphy tells The Hollywood Reporter that he’s a big fan of taking the show on tour, and he’s meeting with Fox in the next few days to iron out the details. “I want to get the new kids out and have them go across the country,” Ryan says. “That was so important to the show and the life of the show. The fans love it and I think it gets them close to the characters.”
Ryan says he is unsure which cast members would tour, given people’s busy schedules, but it sounds like his main focus is allowing the newbies a chance to see the fans. “I can hear the new [cast members] and have heard them talking about it already and asking the old-timers what it was like,” Ryan says. “I know these new kids are so good that I really want to put them out in front of people.”
And more than anything, Ryan wants to keep the fans happy. “If you read Twitter, people really seem to be clamoring for one,” he says. “I'm excited about that, and I think it's joyous and celebratory.”
Plus, Ryan points out, “I really loved the tour.” And what’s not to love? Make it happen, Ryan!
