Zach Woodlee: The Glee Project’s Nellie Veitenheimer Is Like a “Real-life Rachel Berry”!
Remember how much Glee Project mentor Zach Woodlee really liked Nellie Veitenheimer when she was a contender on the show? Well, Nellie may have been eliminated back in Season 2, Episode 7: "Theatricality," but Zach is still singing her praises even to this day.
In a new interview with The Huffington Post, Zach reveals that Nellie and Shanna Henderson were the two contenders he found it most difficult to say goodbye to.
“I love Nellie. Her voice is insane, and I think that her naivete and the way that she was in front of a camera read as this innocent youth. She was like a real-life Rachel Berry.”
A real-life Rachel Berry? In terms of the Glee universe, there’s almost no higher praise. So what is Ryan Murphy and Co. waiting for? Let’s get this gal on Glee, stat!
Or, maybe not so fast. Though Zach is full of praise for the 20-year-old songstress, he still seems to stand by the reasons for her elimination.
“With Nellie, we were always trying to pull her out of her shell. She was just really uncomfortable, and at a certain point, it seemed unfair to some of the other contenders. It's not that we were holding her hand throughout the process — and in a way, we were —but we needed her to take that final step and it just never happened.”
So what is that “final step,” and is there any way Nellie can take it, you know, now? Because Glee’s already added a ton of new characters this season. Surely they might be able to make room for one more... right?
