Full name: Chord Overstreet
Date of birth: March 17, 1989
Hometown: Nashville, Tennessee
Currently residing in: Los Angeles, California
With the first name he was given, is there any doubt Chord Overstreet was destined to sing? Born in Nashville, Chord grew up in the country music biz — his dad, Paul, is a country music singer-songwriter.
Chord’s parents encouraged him to try music, and at a young age he learned to play... the mandolin. (The mandolin? Say what?!) He later picked up guitar and drums — which makes sense, since there isn't a saying that goes "sex, drugs, and mandolin." One of Chord's brothers, Nash, is also a musician.
As a teenager, Chord did some modeling in ad campaigns for Famous Footwear and Gap. His first acting gig was in the web series Private (based on the book series by the same name), which also starred Pretty Little Liars' Brant Daugherty. Sex-ay.
His first film role was in the 2009 horror film The Hole, as "Teenage Boy." Fortunately, things have picked up now that he's on Glee; he will next be seen opposite Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene in the film Warrior, to be released this year.
Chord made his Glee debut as Sam Evans in "Audition," the premiere episode of Season 2. He auditioned for the show by singing Commodores' "Easy" and Gavin DeGraw's "I Don't Want to Be." It's now anyone's guess as to what the future holds for Chord... but we're thinkin' the mandolin won't be involved.
Random factoid: Chord is the third of six (!) children in his family. No word on whether any of his siblings were also given musically inspired names.
