Eve started rapping in high school as part of an all-female group called EDGP (pronounced Egypt), and she later went solo as "Eve of Destruction." She has four albums: Let There Be Eve...Ruff Ryders' First Lady (1999); Scorpion (2001); Eve-Olution (2002); and Lip Lock (2010), which she recorded after she signed to Dr. Dre's Aftermath label. She won Best Female Hip-Hop Artist at the BET Awards in 2001, and she was nominated for Favorite Female Hip-Hop Artist at the American Music Awards in 2003. She nabbed an NAACP Image Award in 2000 for Outstanding New Artist, and she also added a Grammy to her collection in 2002 for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration (with Gwen Stefani). She also earned nominations for Grammys in 2002 for Best Rap Album (Scorpion) and in 2003 for Best Female Rap Solo Performance for "Satisfaction."
Eve has also parlayed her rapping career into acting. She appeared in xXx with Vin Diesel, Barbershop and Barbershop 2: Back in Business with Ice Cube, The Cookout with Queen Latifah and Meagan Good, The Woodsman with Kevin Bacon, and Whip It!. On television, she starred in the UPN sitcom Eve as a fashion designer named Shelly for three seasons, and she guest starred in Numb3rs in 2009.
Random factoid: As a contestant on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire 1998, she won $32,000 for her charity of choice. Not bad!
