Glee’s Season 4 Newbies: Carbon Copies of Last Year’s Graduates?

Santana (Naya Rivera), for one, but it’s not like Glee will be lacking a snarky cheerleader this season. Maybe Kitty can be both Quinn 2.0 and Santana 2.0. The only other graduating senior that hasn’t been replaced yet is Mike (Harry Shum Jr.). Football-playing Asians who just happen to be professional-level dancers must be a bit more difficult to find.

Let’s recap. Bad boy: check. Football jock: check. Blond cheerleader: Check. Not-so-popular choirgirl: check. Gay kid, minority student: Two for one! Who needs new characters when you can just switch out the ones you have with newer versions who aren’t already in or nearing their 30s? We expected more. We really did.
