Charlie Sheen, 2 and a Half Men
When then-Two and a Half Men star Charlie Sheen entered drug rehab in 2010, filming for his show was put on hiatus. (They could have kept going and just called it One and a Half Men. But let’s face it: This show needs a ridiculous and self-involved womanizer to make it work.)
Production picked up only a month later, and the show even renewed Charlie’s contract for two more years. In 2011, Charlie entered rehab for the third time in less than a year. The show was put on an indefinite hiatus, Charlie was fired, and his character killed off. CBS soon hired Ashton Kutcher to play — no shock here — an attractive womanizer.
Show Survived: Yes.
Actor Returned: At first, yes. Eventually fired.
