John Lloyd Young
Glee character: Henri St. Pierre
Full name: John Lloyd Mills Young
Date of birth: July 4, 1975
Hometown: Sacramento, California
Currently residing in: Los Angeles
Education: Brown University (graduated in 1998), B.A. in Theatre Arts
While at Brown, John performed lead roles in Company, Once on This Island, and Sweeney Todd. He later won a 2006 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical — as well as Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and Theatre World Awards — for his performance as Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys on Broadway. Oddly enough, when he first auditioned for the role in California, he didn't get the part. After the actor who was chosen left the show before its New York premiere, the producers called John back and had him re-audition several times before finally giving him the part. Ryan Murphy, Glee's creator, was a little freer with his parts: he wrote John's Glee role especially for him.
Random factoid: John was ABC World News Tonight's Person of the Week on Friday, June 16, 2006. What have you done lately?
