Supporting Characters
-
Emma Pillsbury
Emma Pillsbury is the guidance counselor at McKinley High School who has a deep fear of germs. This "mysophobia" stems from an unfortunate incident from her childhood: When she was little, her family visited a dairy farm and her brother pushed her into a runoff creek (a mixture of fecal matter, blood, and spoiled feed). (Note: Being pushed into a runoff creek can actually kill a person!) She...
-
Sue Sylvester
Sue Sylvester is McKinley's cheerleading coach who loves being in the press. She has transformed her squad, the Cheerios, into an award-winning team. Threatened by the possibility that glee club could undermine her funding, she attempts to destroy New Directions. Principal Figgins fires her after she attempts to sabotage the glee club at Sectionals by leaking their set list to the other...
-
Noah 'Puck' Puckerman
Puck is an arrogant, mohawked football player and bully who ends up joining glee club. He has a weakness for "cougars" (picked up via his pool cleaning business) and temporarily joins Mr. Schue's Acafellas in Episode 1.3 — solely to entertain married women at the PTA meeting where they perform. He sleeps with — and impregnates — his best friend Finn Hudson's girlfriend, Quinn Fabray. Although...
-
Mercedes Jones
Mercedes Jones is glee's dynamic, blinged-out diva-in-training who refuses to sing back-up. She proves she's just as talented as Rachel Berry (if not more so) when she belts out the Dreamgirls torch song "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" in preparation for Sectionals. In Episode 1.3, "Acafellas," Brittany and Santana convince Mercedes that BFF Kurt likes her, so she pursues him. In a panic,...
-
Terri Schuester
Terri Schuester is married to her high school sweetheart, Will Schuester. A part-time employee at Sheets 'N' Things, she is fond of crafts. And Pottery Barn. In Episode 1.6, "Vitamin D," after Sue Sylvester convinces her that Will is having an affair with Emma Pillsbury, she becomes the McKinley High nurse (with no qualifications!) so she can spy on her husband. Principal Figgins fires her when...
-
Mike Chang
Mike is a football player who joins the glee club in Episode 1.4, "Preggers." Along with Brittany, he's one of the best dancers in the club.
-
Lauren Zizes
You know how some people make every day feel like it’s Friday? Well, Lauren is not one of those people. (In fact, she makes every day feel more like midnight on Tax Day.) Lauren is the sometimes-conniving, always-outspoken president of the A/V club, state champion in Greco-Roman wrestling, and obsessive Twilight fan. But of course, it’s that tough exterior that also makes her so intriguing.
She... -
Dave Karofsky
Dave is the scary football player at McKinley High who — along with his buddy Azimio — loves bullying the members of New Directions. (We can’t imagine how much money this guy must spend on slushies to throw in people’s faces.) Dave had constantly ridiculed Kurt for his sexual orientation — and for his love of Lady Gaga — but surprisingly kisses Kurt in “Never Been Kissed,” although he threatens...
-
Matt Rutherford
Matt is a football player who joins the glee club in Episode 1.4, "Preggers." Along with Mike Chang and Brittany, he's one of the best dancers in the club.
-
Jesse St. James
Jesse St. James is the lead singer of Vocal Adrenaline, New Directions' main rival glee club.
-
Shelby Corcoran
Shelby Corcoran is the coach of the flashy show choir Vocal Adrenaline, New Directions' main rival glee club.
-
Principal Figgins
Principal Figgins is the principal of McKinley High who often mediates the constant battles between Sue Sylvester and Mr. Schue. He once made a video for Mumbai Air demonstrating how to put on anti-clotting stockings. Sue attempts to blackmail him with it, until he reveals he's already put it on YouTube and it's only received two hits. Way to show her, Principal Figgins!
-
Sandy Ryerson
Sandy is the former director of the glee club who was fired after Rachel piped up about him "caressing" a male student (because she was upset that Sandy had given him a solo). He wears kimonos and has a massive (and creepy) doll collection. After an initial rejection, Sandy joins Will Schuester's Acafellas for their performance at the PTA meeting. Josh Groban serves him with a restraining order...
-
Ken Tanaka
Ken is the head coach of the McKinley High football team who has a crush on Emma Pillsbury. They get engaged, but he ends up leaving Emma right before their wedding after realizing that she's in love with Will Schuester. This is probably for the best, considering Ken wanted Sisqo's "Thong Song" to be the theme for their wedding dance. Even worse? Ken has no toenails due to a raging case of...
-
Becky Jackson
Earning Sue Sylvester’s (Jane Lynch) respect isn’t easy, yet somehow Becky has managed to do just that. Becky — a student at McKinley High with Down syndrome — first appears in the Season 1 episode “Wheels,” in which she successfully auditions for the Cheerios. Later, Becky becomes Sue’s sidekick, serving as a bearer-of-bad-news or lookout when Sue does something heinous. As it turns out, two...
-
Jacob Ben Israel
Jacob is a school paper/blogger nerd with a hardcore (and creepy) crush on Rachel. Rather unscrupulous when it comes to reporting, he breaks the story about Quinn being preggers on his blog. Heartless! In Episode 1.13, he goes to sectionals with the glee club to fill in for Finn Hudson, who shows up to perform with the group at the last minute.
-
Burt Hummel
Burt Hummel owns a garage and was a former college football player. When Kurt comes out to him in Episode 1.4, "Preggers," he's fully accepting of his son being gay. Ryan Murphy, the co-creator and executive producer of Glee, modeled this father-son relationship after his relationship with his own father.
-
Carole Hudson
Carole, Finn's mother, has raised Finn by herself since her husband (Finn's father) died in Desert Storm. She had a brief fling with Darren, a "lawn specialist" from Emerald Dreams who encouraged Finn to sing.
-
Russell Fabray
Russell, Quinn Fabray's father, is extremely religious. When he learns of his daughter's pregnancy (thanks to Finn's little song), he kicks her out of the house.
-
Kendra
Kendra is Terri's super-crazy sister who helps Terri conspire to "adopt" Quinn's baby. She makes Terri look sane. Kendra and her husband have triplets (all boys).
-
Howard Bamboo
Howard works at Sheets 'N' Things with Terri Schuester, and he was a member of Will's short-lived boy band, the Acafellas.
-
Judy Fabray
Judy is Quinn Fabray's mother, a weak woman who doesn't stand up to her husband when he kicks Quinn out of the house for being pregnant. She sensed that Quinn was preggo even before Finn revealed it in song.
