Nathan Fillion Goes to NBC’s Community — Who’s the Castle Star Playing?
Fanboys and fangirls of the world, prepare to have your brains implode with awesomeness. Nathan Fillion — the hilarious, geeky and irrefutably charming actor behind cult favorite characters like Firefly’s Captain Mal and Dr. Horrible’s Captain Hammer — has signed on to guest star in an upcoming episode of quirky NBC comedy Community.
Yes, Nathan Fillion is appearing on Community. And he’s playing a janitor. Deadline reports the news, but as one might expect, a janitor played by Nathan Fillion will not be your average sort of janitor. Not in the least. Nathan’s character, Bob Waite, is described as “a politically savvy head custodian who’s not afraid to get his hands dirty but is smart enough to wear rubber gloves.”
We’re sorry. As soon as we read rubber gloves, all we could think about was Captain Hammer wearing those ridiculously-oversized black leather gloves. (Oh, and did we mention that the Hammer is actually his... wait, nevermind.)
So far, he’s only scheduled for one episode, so fans of ABC’s Castle need not worry about losing their leading man. But Nathan is a huge Community fanboy, and tweeted about visiting the cast during a set visit last year.
As for his role, Nathan’s Janitor Bob will go head-to-head with Annie (Alison Brie) and Professor Hickey (guest star Jonathan Banks). The exact episode date is not known yet, but he will appear midway through Season 5, which will likely premiere in early 2014.
